Norwegian Chargé d'affaires Aud Lise Norheim visited Right To Play-projects in the Nahr al-Bared and Beddawi- camps. She also showed the Palestinian children that she hasn't forgotten how to play herself.
31/03/2008 :: Chargé d'affaires Aud Lise Norheim visited projects and activities in the refugee camps of Nahr el-Bared and Al- Beddawi on the 28th of March. The projects are run by the international NGO Right To Play, and the organization receives Norwegian support for it's projects in the Middle East.
Right To Play uses sports and play programs to improve health, build skills and foster peace for children and communities affected by war, poverty and disease.
Mrs. Norheim visited the Bhannin UNRWA School, the Educational Institute of al-Khalsa (kindergarten) and Al Qods Club Playground. She was also introduced to the Red Ball Child Play and Early Child Play activities, arranged by Right To Play coaches and trainees.
NGOs who are partners with Right To Play, shared their experiences with the organization, and the value the cooperation has brought to their activities with children and youth. Mrs. Norheim listended to their problems and suggestions, and stressed on Norway's continuous support for Palestinian refugees in Lebanon on all levels.
Mrs.Norheim got to attend a football game, and took the chance to show the young players her football skills, being once a football fan and player herself.
The partners of Right To Play who Mrs.Norheim met with, were among others General Union of Palestinian Woman, Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation, Najdeh Association, National Institution of Social Care & Vocational Training and Child Protection Network.
