The Norwegian artist Per Platou will hold a lecture and present a screening of art videos at the experimental artfilmfestival FIFVC in Beirut. The festival will take place from the 6th to the 9th of May.
14/05/2008 :: Platou is one of the international guests that are participating at the Festival International de Film et Video de Creation (FIFVC) in Beirut. The festival concentrates on experimental artistic films, and is one of its kind in Lebanon. This is the third time the biannual festival is arrranged, and FIFVC is steadily growing.
At the festival the Norwegian artist will hold a lecture, participate in a panel discussion and present a screening of Norwegian experimental art video. During his lecture he will talk about Norwegian artistic films, and also the technical and artistic differences when it comes to producing video and films.
Despite a strong financial public support to artists, these differences will influence which kinds of art films and videos that are produced in Norway. Infrastructural problems causes difficulties for production of new and inventing artistic films.
Per Platou has extensive experience with production within the music and media art scene, with special focus on electronic media. He has worked as a curator for the Norwegian Short Film Festival, and is now the director of the Production Network for Electronic Arts in Norway (PNEK). Platou's attendance at the festival is funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beirut.
Apart from Norway, other participating countries are Lebanon, Germany, Italy, France and Spain. The countries supports their artists' attendance at the festival. FIFVC is arranged and funded by the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and the Goethe Institute. of May.
The FIFVC-festival will this year take place at ALBA, from the 6th to the 9th of May. Per Platou will present his program on Tuesday the 6th, from 6-10 PM.
