Thursday, 7th of January, ambassador Aud Lise Norheim visited the Community Mothers project in the Nahr Al-Bared refugee camp near Tripoli. Behind the project is the Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) organisation. The 12 women in the project volunteered to assists MAPs employed midwives in making house visits and spreading information and knowledge on topics like menstruation, pregnancy, prevention and breastfeeding. As knowledge in this field often is limited, and as the MAP employees have little time for each of their visits in Nahr Al-Bared, the 12 community mothers do an important job in providing essential information to their camp sisters. Information that could be as basic as the timing and dosing of medicine.
For this purpose, they have also been through a thorough education process, directed by the project leader Cassandra Mathie at the MAP.
