The project provided youth coming from both Palestinian and Lebanese low-income communities, usually living in isolation from each other, with a space for sharing common thoughts and concerns and bridging the gap usually disrupting both communities and their relationships. The After Lahza initiative provided youths with a skill, and gave them the opportunity to develop photography into a hobby - and for some even a profession. Photography allowed youths in affected communities to express their fears, hopes and dreams. For many Palestinian youths this was an opportunity to express their emotions of a refugee existence, and the precarious situation of the refugee population, nearly 60 years after their exclusion from their homeland.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beirut is proud to support this project. For more information on the After Lahza project and Zakira, go to their web page, Zakira.org.
