Team Norway runs the Beirut Marathon

07/12/2009 // More than 200 participants in the 2009 Beirut Marathon donned Team Norway t-shirts with the Norwegian flag on the back and the logos of NPA, NRC, NORWAC and Right to Play proudly on the front.

The otherwise trafficated roads of Beirut were filled with people.

Three of the Team Norway participants did the whole 42 km, but the larger part of the team opted for the 10 km. Thus, the Norwegian team was very visible in the 10 km, either running or walking or both to cheers of “Go Norway!” from onlookers and fellow runners.

One of the participants in the Norwegian team, Eva N. Brandt, came in third of the female participants for the 10 km.

For all the participants, it proved to be a good day despite the grey skies and rainy weather. The roads had been closed for the event, and so the otherwise trafficated roads were only filled with people. Furthermore, it was inspiring to note that all the different sections of the Lebanese society were brought together and united through the event.
