BIPOD (Beirut International Platform of Dance) is organised by Maqamat Dance Theatre.
"Bipod takes place in Beirut. It is one of the most important annual contemporary dance platforms in the region. For its 6th edition Bipod will offer once again a rich international program of performances, debates, lectures and workshops. BIPOD raised international curiosity about the dance scene in Beirut and has created a significant presence for dance in Lebanon." Read more on Maqamat's homepage.
The Norwegian Embassy sponsors two performances. In addition to WEE (April 21), Eventyrlige Eventyr (Adventurous Adventures) on Saturday April 17, 11 a.m. at the Monnot Theatre.
About the choreographers:
"Siljeholm/Christophersen is a dance artist duo consisting of Helle Siljeholm and Sara Christophersen. who started working together in 2006 and form collaborations with other artists/academics. Their interest is to develop clear concepts in order to create dance performances that transcend the genres involved, creating new possibilities for reading of the work, still manifested within the field of contemporary dance."
About the performance:
"The dance performance Eventyrige Eventyr (eng. Adventurous Adventures) invites you into a magical and colourful universe of dance, theatrical characters and video animation that is both fascinating and exciting. Embedded in the performance’s theme of the struggle between good and evil are cross references to our contemporary society combined with the tradition of fairytale storytelling."
