Scholarships offered to foreign students for one year at a Norwegian folk high school
25/09/2009 //
The Memorial Fund will award 18 scholarships to students from all over the world who wish to study for one year at a Norwegian folk high school. The aim is to promote cultural exchange between foreign countries and the Norwegian folk high schools. The Memorial Fund has existed for nearly 40 years, but the academic year 2010-11 will be the last year of scholarships.
Folk high schools are one-year boarding schools offering a variety of subjects, both academic and non-academic. The experience can best be summed up as learning for life as students grow individually, socially and academically.
Applicants have to be between 18 and 22 years old. The application form (or a photocopy) should be completed, preferably with some kind of documentation/reference, and sendt together with a recent photograph. Applicants must not have residence in Norway or hold a Norwegian passport and are expected to return to their country of origin after their stay at the folk high school.
For the academic year 2010-11 the application deadline is 1. November 2009. Successful applicants will hear from the Board in mid-December.
