Norwegian major general to lead UN peacekeeping operation in Middle East

The appointment of Robert Mood as Head of Mission and Chief of Staff of UNTSO, the UN peacekeeping operation in the Middle East, will strengthen Norway’s presence in the region.

The Government is channelling NOK 2 million for emergency relief in Lebanon through Norwegian People’s Aid and the Norwegian Aid Committee (NORWAC), which focuses mainly with health care issues. “It is important that emergency relief reaches those in need quickly. That is why Norway is providing these funds now,” said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
